| 2007 Purpose and Charge: Responsible for planning, coordinating and assessing SSHL outreach efforts. This includes SSHL outreach events, displays, and publications. Key Responsibilities: •
Coordinate outreach opportunities for SSHL; sharing information within
the department and to other departments as necessary Communication and reporting: SSHL Outreach Planning Committee reports directly to the Assistant Department Head for Reference, Instruction and Outreach. Where appropriate, the Committee will be responsible for communicating with and soliciting input from units within in SSHL, other departments in the libraries, and campus departments. Issues, decisions, and recommendations will be documented and made available on the SSHL Intranet as and when appropriate. The Committee will meet monthly. Ad hoc meetings can be added, as necessary. Recommendation/Decision Process: Decisions based on broad policy issues shall be referred to the ADH Reference, Instruction and Outreach. Issues that are determined to be outside the scope of the Committee are to be referred to the Department Head. Timetable: Ongoing Budget: Outreach events will be funded from the SSHL department operations budget. An initial program budget of $3000 will be set aside for the first year of operation. A budget call will be conducted each year for additional monies. The Committee may identify other sources of money to assist in the programming. Membership and Terms of Appointment: Membership should be board representation of the Social Sciences & Humanities Library. The members will be responsible for active participation in the committee and will serve for a two-year term beginning in July of each year. SSHL Outreach Committee Mission Statement The SSHL Outreach Committee will develop a coordinated outreach program to showcase outreach activities, collections and services for the UCSD community in order to strengthen the identity of our library as the library for disciplines within social sciences and humanities.
