Procedure for Handling Lost and Found Copy Cards

June 6, 2001

If a copy card is turned into any of our service desks/points, please follow the procedures shown below.

  1. If the card is a departmental copy card it is considered a recharge card and will have an account number listed on the back. Immediately turn it into the Imprints Copier Services office located in Geisel. They can determine the owner by the account number.

  1. If the card is not a departmental copy card it is considered a debit card (purchased from the copy card dispensing machine.)

a. Check the back of the card to see if there is a name and/or phone number. If there is, place a note on the card with the date and where it was found. Immediately turn it into the Imprints Copier Services office. They will contact the individual.

b. If there isn’t a name and/or phone number on the card, check the amount of the card by inserting the card in a card reader. If the amount is over $1.00, immediately turn it into the Imprints Copier Services office.

b. If there isn’t a name and/or phone number on the card, and the amount is $1.00 or less, this card can be kept at the desk it was found. Place a post-it on the card with the date and amount. This card can be given or loaned to patrons who need to make a few copies.

Please refer patrons looking for their copy cards to the Imprints Copier Services office.
