Turning on Instructor and Student Workstations
- If not already on, press the power button on the Instructor Station CPU. Monitor should already be on (in Power-Save mode); if not, turn on monitor.
- To turn-on all student workstations from the Instructor station, open the Power Tools folder on the Instructor workstation desktop, then select either power-on or power-off.
- Note: The computers automatically login when turned on. Please do not log off any computers. If a user comes in to find a PC logged off, just restart the computer.
- Caution: Be careful of the cables at the Instructor Workstation. Do not stand directly in front of the Instructor Workstation.
Wireless Mouse & Keyboard
- Warning: Practice at least once before using in the classroom. Both are tattle taped and kept on or behind the instructor station.
- Mouse: The mouse sits on a charger while not in use. To activate the wireless mouse, double click the trigger button underneath. To deactivate the mouse, double click the trigger button underneath again. Note, the mouse will time-out after a certain period of time if it is not in use. Just double click to activate again.
- Keyboard is AAA battery charged, and there are extra batteries on the bookshelf. Keyboard does not need to be turned off. If the green light in the upper left corner does not turn on when you hit a key stroke, then the battery needs to be replaced.
Projector
- To turn projector on, hit the power button once on the remote.
- Blank button on the remote turns the screen to black without shutting down the projector.
- Remote also has a laser pointer.
- Remote should be on Input 1. Input 1 & 2 are the same button – you have to toggle between the two. Input 3 is separate. Inputs 2 & 3 are used to display a second monitor, e.g. a laptop hooked up to the instructor station.
Using a Laptop instead of the Instructor Workstation
- Please notify SSHL TSU at least 3 working days in advance.
There is an auxiliary input/port on the wall directly behind the instructor workstation. Plug laptop into port using a VGA extender cable which can be found on the shelving slightly behind and to the right of the Instructor Station. Once the laptop is plugged into the port, turn on the laptop. On the remote control, toggle to input “2” to view the laptop on the large screen.
Sound System
- Wireless microphone – press on/off switch on wireless mic
- Sound system remote control – press on/source button; may also adjust volume from the remote
- Instructor workstation must be on in order to use wireless mic. Do not step too close to the receiver while wearing the wireless mic or you will get feedback.
DVD and CD Player
- Insert DVD or CD into the drive in the Instructor Workstation.
- It is recommended that you test a DVD or CD before using in a classroom setting.
