Discussion
1. Introduction of SSHL's
Liaison in the Catalog Department, Ryan Finnerty.
Ryan was introduced. He distributed information that detailed the Cataloging
Liaisons Program. The goal of the program is to improve the communication
between Cataloging and the departments they serve. Ryan will attend future
SSH Cluster Bibliographers meetings. He will also look into creating a prioritized
list, and possibly a website, detailing ongoing Cataloging projects.
2. Yet another weeding
project: Con Circ CD-ROMs and 3 ½-inch discs behind the Circulation
Desk.
There is no growth room left in the Con Circ CD-ROMs and 3 ½-inch Discs
area behind the Circulation Desk. Sam will place boolean lists, with instructions,
in the Review Room. Please review the lists and make your suggestions for
retention or withdrawal by December 31. After this initial review we may need
to rethink the need for additional storage or new procedures for storing these
items.
3. Update on the work
of the Journals Cancellation Task Force and next steps.
CPNM is tracking unbound journal use. Stacy Nelson will create an Access database
to help provide bibliographers with information on this project. Included
in the database will be cost for the last three years, cost of the online
access, and publisher information. Sam asked for additional information people
might need for the project. Suggestions were any circulation information on
bound volumes, where the title is indexed, and last copy notes. If you think
of anything else please send it along to Sam. Once Stacy has created the database,
a standard report will be sent to all bibliographers. If you need more information,
Cathy Holdeman will be available to query the Access database and provide
you with the information you need.
4. What about new serials?
We are still considering new serials. These will be purchased from subject
mono funds.
5. Discussion of the
"Move Document" and how it really works. Please bring a copy. http://tpot.ucsd.edu/Misc/move2.html
Please make sure you are aware of whom your large purchases and gifts will
impact once they arrive in the library. Make sure you give all involved as
much lead time up as possible to allow for smooth processing and shelving
of materials.
6. SSHL Reference moves,
weeding and replacements.
Amy encourages everyone to weed. Everyone felt that they are able to buy what
they need for the Reference Collection in their subject areas. Individual
special funding requests will be made, as needed, but no general funding requests
need to be made for Reference overall.
